Jan Haas co-founded Velocity Financial Group and serves as its President and head of the Ventures Division. Jan has a 20 year track record of successfully building specialty finance businesses, investing more than $500 million with more than 100 emerging growth companies, and raising hundreds of millions more for entrepreneurs as a technology investment banker. Since launching Velocity in May 2007, Jan has led investments in such notable market leaders as Avnera, Glasshouse, Greatcall, Interwise (acquired by AT&T), Liquidia, MyVu, nCircle, SchooNet, Solopower, Suniva, Veracode and Vormetric.

Prior to starting Velocity, Jan was the Managing Partner of Cedar Boulevard Capital, an investment partnership that he formed in 2003 to acquire and manage pools of debt securities, including venture debt portfolios. Prior to forming Cedar, Jan served as Managing Director and head of East Coast investments for Comdisco Ventures, where he invested close to $250 million with 54 companies. Jan's tenure at Comdisco Ventures was preceded by a five year track in investment banking, most recently as a Vice President with the technology group at Montgomery Securities (acquired by Bank of America/NationsBank). Jan began his career as an Account Officer with Chemical Bank in New York (now part of JPMorgan Chase). Jan received his MBA degree from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Math and Computer Science from Middlebury College.

Jan is married to Kelly, a labor and delivery nurse, and has three boys rising through the ranks of elementary school. Jan’s hobbies include wrestling with his kids, rooting for the Tar Heels, and nursing frequent injuries incurred playing indoor lacrosse.
